Malhar 2025

Updated: Aug 31, 2025

This year Malhar proudly celebrated its 46th year! Keeping in line with The World Within theme, the workforce and audience both internalised the grandness and essence of the fest. From pre-events in the weeks leading up to Malhar, to the main days themselves, the fest was packed with energy, dynamism and creativity.

The beauty of Malhar’s pre-events has always been that they stand out as moments amidst the campus rush, and this year was no exception. Students attended a Salsa workshop, met director Advait Chandan, and experienced IPA's Dil Dosti Yaari. Fine Arts hosted Clay it Cool, while MET turned the campus into a red-carpet night. Conclave teased its line up with Avanti Nagral, ETC’s Navarasa explored nine rasas, and the Treasure Hunt sent students across Xavier’s. The much-loved Malhar By the Bay closed pre-events with band performances.

Amidst the colour and celebration, Malhar also carried its commitment to responsibility through the Yardsale, with proceeds going to charity, and Malhar on Wheels, which spread the fest’s spirit across the city. Within the campus, the workforce built team spirit through sports matches and prepared for emergencies with fire workshops and drills.

All this culminated in the main days of Malhar, on the 15th and 16th of August, 2025, filled with events, activities and stalls. An integral part was Conclave, with sessions by Dr. Seema Rao, Supriya Sule, Justice Upadhyaya, Justice Revati Mohite Dere, Ashwin Sanghi, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Amol Mazumdar, Suma Shirur, Bhagyashree Jadhav, Anup Soni, Pratik Gandhi, Saiyami Kher, Akhil Iyer and Shriya Narayan.

The six ‘Events’ departments kept the campus buzzing: Literary Arts (LA) with What’s In a Jam, Facts in Fiction, Lights, Camera, Sell, and Poet’s Cut; Indian Performing Arts (IPA) with Patiala Dhol Bajake, Kis mai Kitna Hai (Rhy)dum and MyTaalLogy; Entertainment Theatricals Contest (ETC) with Malhar Thunder Cup, Malhar Through Time and Comic Clones; Fine Arts (FA) with Beyond the Folds, Flip the Frame and Art in Motion; World Performing Arts (WPA) with Ctrl Z, Treble in Paradise, On the Deck and Once Upon A Groove; and Workshops Incorporated (WINC) with Take One, That’s so 2000s, Mission Impossible and Echoes and Illusions.

Crossover events like Ghazal-e-Nazm, Canvases Unmasked and Retro Meets Metro captured the collaboration's beauty. Every student who was a part of Malhar 2025 carried a piece of its magic within them, because ultimately, Malhar is not just an event but an experience. Each department delved deep into The World Within, be it the world within Malhar itself, or within every person who shaped it. We all put our hearts, bodies and souls into the fest, and so, we carry its moments as memories until it returns next year.
