Viksit Maharashtra 2047: A Two-Day National Conference

Viksit Maharashtra 2047 - Pathways to Inclusive & Sustainable Development, was a two-day national conference held on 28th and 29th November, 2025. It hosted many notable luminaries such as the Hon. Minister for IT and Cultural Affairs, Govt. of Maharashtra, Adv. Mr. Ashish Shelar, and Rajya Sabha MP, Former Union Minister for Communications, IT & Shipping, Mr. Milind Deora.

The inaugural session was followed by research paper presentations in the college, moderated by the college faculty. Throughout the day, the audience and the panelists took up dynamic topics such as the rapid digital transformation of Maharashtra, emerging inequalities within cities, and Mumbai’s aspirations to become a global urban centre by 2047. The day concluded with an insightful panel discussion moderated by Dr. Agnelo Menezes, Head of the Department of Public Policy.

Day Two of the conference featured a keynote by veteran journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, who urged participants to centre grassroots voices and address agrarian distress to shape Maharashtra’s future. Research paper sessions promoted interdisciplinary, socially rooted policy thinking. Justice (Retd.) Gautam S. Patel, former Judge of Bombay High Court, delivered the valedictory, highlighting the Constitution’s role in empowering citizens and rejecting absolutism. Organized by Dr. Aparna Kulkarni (Department of Economics) and Agrima Bhasin (Department of Public Policy), the conference fostered meaningful dialogue on inclusive and sustainable development.
