The Jesuit Alumni Congress

Updated: Dec 24, 2025

The Congress of Jesuit Alumni was held in Mumbai from 14th to 16th November 2025. The central theme was “Ecology and Sustainable Living”. It was attended by over 250 participants, hailing from the Alumni Associations of schools and colleges run by the four Western Jesuit Provinces: Bombay, Goa, Gujarat and Pune. These associations are a part of the JAAI (Jesuit Alumni Associations of India), which is a larger federation that has taken up ecology as a larger focus area.

The opening session took place at the college campus. The Chief Guest, Archbishop John Rodrigues, expressed the Church’s concern for ecology and urged the participants to “work for the greater glory of God by caring for our common home.” Ms. Shloka Nath, CEO of India Climate Collaborative, delivered a keynote address that talked about the unique contribution to climate action that one can make through their value-based initiatives.

The latter part of the Congress involved discussions on themes like energy, waste, water and trees. Fr. Frazer Mascarenhas SJ and Fr. Joel Noronha SJ presented the Jesuit Ecology Platform of the four provinces. This was followed by presentations and a devised roadmap that the Programme Committee brought forth.

The Congress also delved into surveys of the current status of institutions, decided on having regular audits, striving to become fully solar-powered within three years. In these ways, the Congress aimed at throwing light on the prevailing ecological issues as well as bringing about a revolutionary change sustainably.
